At first glance, the title of this book gives the impression that it may be of interest to the interested observer of industrial heritage. However, the primary focus of this book is port traffic and the ships that served it, backed up with a brief history of the economic and physical development of the port.
The book is copiously illustrated with photographs, however, these are primarily of ships, with only a few showing the road and rail bridges of the town and some of the harbour facilities.
