This book (and therefore, its author) is responsible for my interest in the subject of industrial heritage. As a non-trainspotting railway enthusiast, coming upon this book was the answer to my questions as to what my overall interest was.

Antrim Coast & Glens 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' (AONB) covers the north and east part of County Antrim (from Ballycastle to just north of Larne and everywhere in between). Chapters on each of the primary areas of industrial heritage to be found in the geographical area under consideration present an overview of the sites within the AONB and a brief history thereof. These are complemented by maps of the area and a gazeteer of the more significant sites.

As a high level survey of the industrial heritage of the Antrim Coast and Glens AONB, this book is a model publication, replication of which for other areas of Ireland would be welcomed.
