Yet another quality publication from Norman Johnston and Colourpoint, this book makes available colour images of the Irish narrow gauge from a period when colour photography was not the norm.
The book gives a brief history of the narrow gauge in Ireland, with comparisons to England, Scotland and Wales, shows a few images of the remains of those lines that had closed before colour photography became commonplace, moves onto those lines that just survived into that era and then covers the lines that survived into the 1950s and sixties. There is also a section on Industrial lines and preserved railways.
As a record in colour of a long disappeared system, this is a well worthwhile publication.
