Primarily aimed at coverage of the engines, many of the photos are taken at stations on routes which no longer exist and for this fact alone, the book is interesting.
The book is well illustrated with photographs, both b/w and colour, and built heritage features visible therein include Harcourt Street, Courtmacsherry, Abbeyleix, Valentia, along the Barnagh Bank, Curragh Racecourse, Ardee, Dunsandle and Lixnaw. Other interesting images include Hazelhatch (my local station), a derailment at Longford and Hill of Down.
A history of the two classes (A & C or 001 and 201) is given as are technical details. There is also a chapter on the BR Metro Vicks by way of comparison.
