Over the years, I haven taken many photographs of railway structures on the island of Ireland. It is all very well having such a collection, but not much point if it just sits on my computer doing nothing.
As a result, I have decided to start putting my entire collection online for the world to see. Please note that copyright in these images remains mine and express permission is required to use these photos elsewhere.
The link to this area of my site is Photographs
The images are laid out in categories, which contain albums. I have defined categories as industrial heritage type (e.g. Railways, Canals, Tramways) with sub categories within Railways being split into Open railways and Closed railways. Below this, a further sub category is the relevant railway line and into these go albums with an album for each location. A point to note about the displayed date on the thumbnail page. This is the date of uploading, not the date on which the photo was taken. Clicking on the thumbnail will bring up the photo and relevant info, including the date the photo was taken.
I would be happy to receive comments on photos (good bad or indifferent) including corrections. Currently the site is set up that only I can post photos. However, if anyone has a suitable collection of photos and is willing to provide the use of these free of charge (with retention of owner's copyright), I will be happy to discuss inclusion of these. The overriding condition is that the photograph must relate to the built heritage of Ireland's railways/tramways - i.e., this is not a site for trains/rolling stock.
Please also note that due to the limitations of the equipment used, the earlier photos are not necessarily of high quality, but are included if they contain images of interest.
As of 5th November 2008, 602 railway photos have been added (6%).
