| | | Railways (in Limbo)In Ireland, the State owned railway company, Irish Rail, specialise in closing railway lines by stealth - i.e., ceasing all services, not maintaining track and tarmacading over level crossings, rather than formally abandon the lines, which might rise to criticism. These lines are "in limbo" - neither open nor closed. |

Damage to embankment3 viewsLocated between Summerfield road overbridge and Bog Road Level Crossing, Ballyvergan East is the townland through which the railway passes, where IR have removed the track without abandoning the railway. In addition, part of the embankment is gone. I will not lower myself to suggest that this was deliberate.

Scales0 viewsOnce a common feature of railway stations, these were used to weigh parcels and passenger luggage. The railway companies beat Ryanair to the issue of charging for excess luggage. It is a surprise that Gregg Ryan hasn't sold this scales off to the highest bidder.
