Built in 1976, Belfast Central station was planned as the central railway station for Belfast, replacing Queens Quay and Great Victoria Street. While it may have been central to the railway, it is not central to Belfast. It also took another 19 years before the other station in Belfast, York Road, was connected by rail to it and in that year, Great Victoria Street, the physically central station in Belfast, was reopened.
