Site Description
Approaching the station, a siding diverges to form a turnback siding in the station. This allows trains to run to/from the station. Including the latter, there are five platforms here. Of all the stations on the Kildare Route Project, Hazelhatch and Celbridge is the one that saw most of its built heritage survive. The original station building, which had been out of use previously, is now in use as a waiting room serving the centre island platform. The leftmost face of this was the Up platform prior to the Kildare Route Project. The Down platform was extended as part of the Kildare Route Project. On the Up side, there are two further through platforms. The new station building is beyond these. The original GS&WR footbridge remains but out of use. It connected the Down platform to the island platform. There is a lift accessible footbridge doing likewise. This also connects the island to the outermost Up platform. The former goods store remains in situ at the Dublin end of the station on the Down side. It is used as a store. Leaving the station, the four track Kildare Route Project ends and the line from here to Cork reverts to double track.Photographs
