Site Description
Signal interlocking - MW. Approaching the station, there is a siding on the Up side. This trails into the goods area on the same side, which contains 3 sidings, a water tower and a gantry. Opposite, the former GSRPS base can be seen on the Down side. This area contains
the former loco shed and turntable as well as a number of sidings. There is also a siding on the Down side which terminates behind the station, alongside a platform. This was used by Waterford trains and has been cut short in recent years to allow a car park to be built.
The line from Waterford, closed from Ballinacourty Junction in 1967 and from there to Waterford in 1982, trailed in on the Down side. The signal interlocking and radio aerial are on the Up side at the Cork end of the station. Opposite, Mallow South box remains. There are
both Up and Down platforms here, constructed on a curve with the station buildings on the Down platform. These contain a ticket office, shop, public phones and toilets. There are canopies on both platforms. There is a disused covered footbridge at the Dublin end of the
platforms. A modern lift accessible footbridge is located at the Cork end of the station.
